- صرح مصدر رفيع المستوى في أمانة عمان عن نيّة الأمانة إنشاء جسور للمشاة في جميع شوارع عمان الرئيسية وعلى مسافات متقاربة، وقال المصدر بأن الأمانة ستتعاون مع جميع البلديات في المملكة بحيث يتم تطبيق الحملة والتي أطلق عليها اسم "كل 100 متر، جسر" في جميع المحافظات، وتأتي هذه المبادرة كخطوة لرفع المشقة عن المواطنين الذين باتوا يشتكون من أن إشارات المشاة "بتطوّل تا تظوي أخظر وإحنا ورانا شغل"، وبهدف تعظيم الاستفادة من وقت المواطن لرفع الإنتاجية.

- أعلنت وزارة الأشغال العامة والإسكان الانتهاء مؤخراً من مشروع التخلص من الحفر والمناهل في الشوارع والذي ساهم في خفض واردات المملكة من "صنوبرصات" السيارات بنسبة 70% وأشاد معالي الوزير بجهود المواطنين الذين ساعدوا البلديات عن طريق إبلاغهم السلطات كلما شافوا منهل أو حفرة وقال "لا يمكن لأحد أن يصل إلى الوضع المثالي ولكننا نحاول، نرجوا من كل مواطن الإبلاغ عن أية حفرة عن طريق الاتصال على الرقم المجاني 08007OFRA أو 0800MONHOL لنصل معاً إلى شوارع خالية من الحفر.

- أفاد مصدر مقرب من وزير التربية والتعليم فضل عدم ذكر اسمه أن معالي الوزير تلقى اتصالاً هاتفياً من عمّ الرئيس الأمريكي السابق جورج بوش "يتواسط" فيه عند الوزير لقبول ابنة بوش في كلية التربية في الجامعة الأردنية، وأكد نفس المصدر أن الوزير رفض قائلاً "الله يخليك لا تحرجني البنت مش جايبة 65 والقانون قانون" ولكنه وبهدف الحفاظ على العلاقات بين البلدين سمح لها بالتسجيل في جامعة جرش الأهلية على أن تعامل معاملة أبناء البلد.

- بعد النجاح الكاسح الذي حققته قنوات التلفزيون الأردني الـ15 قررت إدارة التلفزيون إطلاق قناة جديدة متخصصة في شؤون الطبخ أطلق عليها اسم Mansaf TV وذلك لتلبية طلبات المشاهدين في الخارج حول وصفات المنسف وطريقة عمله.

- أكد مدرب المنتخب الأردني لكرة القدم أن فوز المنتخب بكأس آسيا هي "البداية فقط" وأن الخطوة التالية ستكون الفوز بكأس العالم، وأضاف أن الفريق يهدي فوزه إلى الشعب الأردني "اللي بتمشي الرياضة بدمّه".

- صرح مدير عام الجمارك الأردنية أن خفض الرسوم الجمركية على السيارات أتى بسبب تدني الإقبال على اقتناء السيارات من قبل المواطنين والذين باتوا يفضلون استخدام المواصلات العامة خاصة بعد حملة التجديد التي قامت بها هيئة تنظيم قطاع النقل العام، وفي استفتاء أجرته دائرة الإحصاءات العامة، أفاد 85% من المواطنين بأنهم يفضلون ركوب الحافلات للتوجه إلى أماكن عملهم لأنها آمنة (80%) ولأنها تتيح لهم فرصة التمتع بمناظر الشوارع حولهم (75%) وكذلك بسبب دقة المواعيد والتي يمكن الاعتماد عليها (100%) بينما فضل 10% من المواطنين ركوب الدراجات وقالت الـ5% المتبقية بأنهم يفضلون سياراتهم لأن لهم حرية اختيار الأغاني على مسجل السيارة.

- تحتفل المملكة بمرور 15 عاماً على التخلص من آخر مظاهر إطلاق العيارات النارية في المناسبات، وبهذه المناسبة أكد وزير الداخلية أن قرار استبدال هذه الظاهرة بظاهرة رمي الورد والـ"ملبس علوز" في الأفراح كان الخطوة الأولى نحو النجاح.

- يقوم وفد ياباني بزيارة إلى دائرة الأحوال المدنية للاطلاع على خبرات الدائرة في إنجاز معاملات المواطنين بسرعة وبدقة متناهية، وقال رئيس الوفد في مقابلة حصرية مع مدونة صوص البطة البشع "لم نتوقع هذا القدر من التطور، سنقوم بنقل التجربة لدائرة الأحوال المدنية في طوكيو لعلنا نحذو حذوكم".

- قررت وزارة السياحة التعاون مع السفارات الأردنية في الخارج عن طريق وزارة الخارجية لضبط توافد السياح على المملكة، حيث شهد الموسم الحالي ازدحام المرافق السياحية بشكل كبير وخاصة بعد قيام الوزارة بتحديث المرافق وإضافة العديد من الخدمات أدت إلى تدفق السياح من داخل وخارج المملكة، وقال وزير السياحة "سيشهد فصل الشتاء حملة أخرى لتحويل المرتفعات في المملكة إلى المقصد الأول لهواة التزلج، جبال الألب مش أحسن من جبال عمان".

Why Twitter Has Been Down Since the Beginning of the World Cup.

If you’re on Twitter then you’ve probably been seeing more of the Fail Whale than your family lately, I think it’s World Cup-related, why? Let me tell you:

1. On the opening day there were too many tweets from excited football fans all over the world. Twitter failed.

2. During the opening match Al-Jazeera Sport viewers suffered from the very poor signal of the channel because someone (God knows who) tried to sabotage their authorized transmission of the FIFA World Cup and there were too many tweets from people either complaining or predicting who did it, everyone had his/her own theory. Twitter failed.

3. The second match was France vs. Uruguay. The French have really, really long words with unnecessary extra letters, this called for more tweets since the characters are limited to 140, too many French tweets. Twitter failed.

4. Next match: South Korea vs. Greece. I’ll list the names of the Greek team from FIFA.com:

Now such names call for longer tweets, again, too many Greek tweets. Twitter failed.

5. Argentina vs. Nigeria: Well just consider the populations of both countries plus Argentina fans all over the world plus Messi fans that know nothing about football but are supporting Argentina because he's with them. Too many Tango tweets. Twitter failed.

6. Next: England vs. USA, 1-1, the American goal was clearly the English goalkeeper’s (or the ball’s) fault, English supporters were very unhappy blaming their goalkeeper for costing them 2 points, and you know when English people are angry they’re really angry. Too many angry English tweets. Twitter failed.

7. Algeria vs. Slovenia: Algeria, the only Arab team to qualify to the World Cup after a vicious battle against Egypt for the last African spot in WC, lost 1-0 to Slovenia, now Algerians were “shocked” and all the Egyptian supporters were talking about what Egypt could’ve done had it qualified instead. Too many Egyptian what-ifs. Twitter failed.

8. Serbia 0-1 Ghana: Twitter was fine at the time of this match.

9. Germany 4-0 Australia, too many tweets because there were many goals, the match with the highest number of goals so far. Too many happy Germans (and German football fans) tweeting times four goals. Twitter failed.

10. Netherlands 2-0 Denmark: angry Danes because of Daniel Agger's own goal, long Dutch tweets because of, well, long Dutch words, (according to Google Translate, the words “Dutch football” translate to “Nederlandse voetbal” in Dutch, also, with names like Giovanni Van Bronckhorst and Maarten Stekelenburg in the Dutch team, you need longer tweets. Twitter failed.

11. Japan 1-0 Cameroon: everyone was talking about how the Japanese player who scored the goal is called Keisuke Honda and making jokes about cars :) too many Honda jokes. Twitter failed.

12. Italy 1-1 Paraguay: well Italians talk too much and too fast so they probably tweet like that too, also, too many happy Italy-haters out there. Twitter failed.

13. New Zealand 1-1 Slovakia: well Twitter was also fine, although I guess some people tweeted when New Zealand’s Winston Reid scored during the additional time, but not too many.

14. Côte d'Ivoire 0-0 Portugal: upon seeing Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo, and what with the lack of goals, people started discussing their favorite shampoo brands and some actually defended Ronaldo’s choice: Johnson&Johnson's No More Tears. The heated argument caused the overload. Twitter failed.

15. Brazil 2-1 Korea DPR: all those Brazil fans were tweeting their disappointment with the Brazilian team’s performance against a team that qualified for the World Cup twice since the beginning of the tournament in 1930. Too many Brazil supporters, too many Brazil haters making fun of sad fans. Twitter failed.

16. On top of that, tweets about how annoying (or awesome) the Vuvuzela is, people asking FIFA to ban it because it’s too loud, others saying it’s cool and they like it and other Vuvuzela-related tweets. Too many loud tweets. Twitter failed.

And that's just the beginning, we haven't even seen the big matches yet, I hope the Fail Whale survives this month.

Note: no offense intended to any of the nationalities I mentioned, this is just for fun and all the teams and their countries are good people :)

Defending Islam? It's Better Off Without It!

You’ve all heard of this Facebook page that was created by someone claiming to be God (wal 3eyathu bellah) well I don’t think he believes he is in fact God, the guy’s just mocking Muslims mostly, and every other non-Muslim who believes in God.

The thing is, everyone is starting those groups that are trying to spread the word, and underline “spread the word”, about it, to get people to report the page as inappropriate and have it deactivated by Facebook, Farah talked about it here, and I have to say I agree with her that this type of people should be ignored rather than publicized, but what irritates me most is the so-called Muslims who actually join the groups or become fans of the page in order to get to comment on its posts. I checked out the page, what this guy writes is absolutely appalling, but it didn’t upset me as much as what people who are supposed to be defending their religion wrote; comments on the posts including the dirtiest most disgusting words, cursing the guy (and the female members of his family I’m sorry to say) as a way of standing up to him!!!

I cannot understand how saying that you want to (let’s put it this way:) perform sexual acts on the guy’s mother is your way of expressing anger towards the guy! Or defending Islam and letting him know that you don’t accept it when he insults God.

I will tell you this: if this is your way of sticking up to your religion and defending it, then Islam is better off without your help, your shallowness is what's destroying us.

Take a Minute

An earthquake of magnitude 8.8 has struck Chile earlier today. There's not much you can say in situations like these, except that it makes all the big things seem so small when you compare. 
Take a couple of minutes to watch this, then think about the small differences, the fights, the arguments, the times you thought your life was bad, the people you upset, the friends you lost over the stupidest problems, and the people you care about that have no clue that you do. Is everything really worth it? When the ground is shaking so hard beneath you, would you still feel angry, upset, hurt, jealous, would you still hold grudges? Then why do you now?
