Meh...

Why do you care if they burn a copy, 10 copies or even a billion copies of the Quraan? Islam haters have been burning Muslims for decades before they burn the Quraan, they burned Muslim children, Muslim women, Muslim men, Muslims' homes, mosques, lands, and countries. Which is more sacred? The Quraan belongs in hearts rather than on papers anyway so let them burn all they want, as long as they're not affecting our hearts or minds they're not affecting Islam. People are making a fuss over the wrong thing, we seem to have lost sight of the things that really matter.

The amount of Islamic TV channels and programs has skyrocketed in the past few years, I don't know if this classifies as a good thing (because people need awareness and they want to learn more about Islam whether it's their religion or not) or as a bad thing (because who knows where the people in these channels get their info from, and who knows how accurate it is).

Religion is a very sensitive subject that should be addressed correctly, and any wrong, inaccurate, or vague word can easily be misinterpreted and send out the wrong message, sometimes a message that is the exact opposite to what you are trying to say.

The more important part of this is the style of the cleric/preacher/Mufti/daa3eyah/sheikh/Imam, whatever you wanna call him (I'll call him Mhaawesh here but you shouldn't) and I don't mean his clothing style or his hair and beard style, that's something I'd rather not get into at this point because I don't believe there's a uniform for a Muslim! I'm talking about his style of delivering the piece of information he wants the viewers to learn.

Let me explain further, suppose Mhaawesh here wants to talk about mercy, compassion, sympathy, kindness, or any other virtue, he wants to say that Mohammed (salla Allahu 3alayhi wa sallam) ordered us to smile at each other, he ordered us to visit our sick friends and relatives, to treat our children equally… etc. now what do you think is the best way for Mhaawesh to say such things? I'll tell you what: BY YELLING! Or at least that's what most of them out there are thinking.

How can you possibly talk about a religion of peace when you're yelling the whole time? Shouldn't you be doing what you're telling us to do before you appear on TV? At least smile at the camera for God's sake 7ajj Mhaawesh!

There's a big difference between talking on air as if you would be talking to a friend or a group of friends, and talking as if you're telling people off for doing something wrong. And if a non-Arabic-speaking person accidentally tuned in, what would they think Mhaawesh is talking about? Peace? Forgiveness? Being good to one another? I don't think so, and frankly, it's not the kind of thing I would want to spend my afternoon listening to, even when I do understand what he's saying, because if I wanted someone to yell at me I'd just tell my father about that time when guys had to lift my car up to get it out of the place I got it into, at least he'd be yelling for something I actually did.

And even in case Mhaawesh is talking about rules that should not be broken, punishment, sins… etc. this is not the way to do it, because a man of religion should be encouraging people to listen to him rather than scaring them away.

Try to see the difference between these two guys, with all due respect to all the shyoukh out there of course, the first one is an Imam in Morocco during Khotbat Al Jumaa (sorry about the video quality but you have to see this) and the second is Dr. Mohammed Rateb Al Nabelsi on a TV show talking about being thankful for God's blessings among other things.

Defending Islam? It's Better Off Without It!

You’ve all heard of this Facebook page that was created by someone claiming to be God (wal 3eyathu bellah) well I don’t think he believes he is in fact God, the guy’s just mocking Muslims mostly, and every other non-Muslim who believes in God.

The thing is, everyone is starting those groups that are trying to spread the word, and underline “spread the word”, about it, to get people to report the page as inappropriate and have it deactivated by Facebook, Farah talked about it here, and I have to say I agree with her that this type of people should be ignored rather than publicized, but what irritates me most is the so-called Muslims who actually join the groups or become fans of the page in order to get to comment on its posts. I checked out the page, what this guy writes is absolutely appalling, but it didn’t upset me as much as what people who are supposed to be defending their religion wrote; comments on the posts including the dirtiest most disgusting words, cursing the guy (and the female members of his family I’m sorry to say) as a way of standing up to him!!!

I cannot understand how saying that you want to (let’s put it this way:) perform sexual acts on the guy’s mother is your way of expressing anger towards the guy! Or defending Islam and letting him know that you don’t accept it when he insults God.

I will tell you this: if this is your way of sticking up to your religion and defending it, then Islam is better off without your help, your shallowness is what's destroying us.

Just kidding.

Since most of my posts so far have been takhweet, let’s talk about something serious this time. I have a thing or two to say about those “religion” e-mails that never seem to stop flooding my inbox.

First of all, 99% of them are made up. Not everything that’s written after “La Elaha Ella Allah” is true, if you do check every Hadeeth in those e-mails, you will find most of them are موضوعة أو مكذوبة some people go through a lot of trouble making up stories, miracles, and things like that, and whether their purpose is to mock Muslims or to invite other people to Islam (which would be very stupid done in that way) the end result is the same, a ton of messages telling you that you will go to hell if you do not forward, or a Hasanaat counter (which is the lamest invention since Arabic Video Clips). Let’s assume this counter is how things work, in this case, I’ll go out hurting people for fun, stealing, lying, cheating, killing and destroying the whole town, then I’d take a couple of minutes of my time, and erase all that by sending one e-mail to a thousand people. Right?

Wrong.

The other thing, that “oath” they let you read at the beginning of some e-mails (like the one I made you read :P), I wonder what kind of idiot came up with that idea, whoever they are, what they’re basically saying is that if you read it then you are in that case obliged to do it, I really don’t think reading something that was written by someone else makes you like the one who wrote it, case in mind, if you read the Quraan, you will find dozens of sentences and phrases from atheists or polytheists, in stories about those people, does reading those phrases make you an atheist? No? So why would reading that qasam mean you must do it?

Don’t stop reading now, انت حلفت ولازم تكمل :)

If Muslims really want to get more Hasanat, maybe they could start with the way they’re dealing with each other, why do you get all religious when you see those e-mails, but not when you have to deal with another human being? Does forwarding an e-mail make it ok for you to take something that is clearly not yours? Will it erase the nasty words you just said about another person? Can it undo lying or cheating? Most certainly not, but why can’t we start with those things, instead of looking at things that won’t do us any good (that is if they don’t do us bad) I’d really love to see something like driving in the streets of Amman controlled by Islamic ethics, no swearing, no name calling, no harassing others, impossible isn’t it?

But, if after all you are still worried not forwarding will get you in trouble Yom El Qeyameh, you have to know that it’s the contrary, as our Prophet Salla Allaho 3alayh wa sallam, warned us from passing on those lies, you will be making a sin spreading all those made up stories and Ahadeeth, so in case you still want to promote virtues, pass on the real stuff, then people will see that Islam is not about those details, it’s about what’s inside your heart, and how you take it out.

Now if you’ll excuse me I have a big meeting coming up, so I need to go steal some sucker’s work and present it as mine :) I still have some Hasanat left in my counter from forwarding my last e-mail.

Matloob 500 Fataah

This is probably a couple of months old, but this guy never ceases to amaze me, I mean, WOW! I think he will be the saviour of all Arabs one day :S

القذافي يقضي ساعتين بصحبة 200 فتاة ايطالية جذابة تتراوح أعمارهن بين 18 و35 لـ"دعوتهن للإسلام

ذكرت وسائل اعلام ايطالية الاثنين 16-11-2009 أن الزعيم الليبي معمر القذافي الذي يزور روما لحضور قمة الامم المتحدة للغذاء قضى عدة ساعات بصحبة 200 ايطالية وحاول اقناعهن باعتناق الدين الاسلامي.

وقال اعلان نشرته وكالة هوستس ويب ونقلته صحيفة كورييري ديل سيرا "مطلوب 500 فتاة جذابة تتراوح أعمارهن بين 18 و35 الطول 70ر1 متر على الاقل يتمتعن بحسن المظهر مع الابتعاد عن ارتداء التنورات القصيرة والثياب مفتوحة الصدر".

وحضر نحو 200 امرأة في فيلا بروما بعد ان ابلغن بأنهن سيحصلن على 60 يورو (90) دولارا و"بعض الهدايا الليبية" وكانت من بينهن صحفية تابعة لوكالة الانباء الايطالية "انسا" التقطت صورا ووصفت وقائع الامسية.

وتقول انسا ان غالبية المشاركات توقعن حضور حفل لكن بدلا من ذلك طلب منهن الانتظار في قاعة ضخمة حتى وصول القذافي الذي حاضرهن عن ليبيا ودور النساء في الاسلام.

واستغرقت المحاضرة نحو ساعتين وتضمنت اسئلة واجوبة عبر مترجم واختتمت بدعوة من القذافي "لدخول الاسلام" وحصلت كل امرأة على نسخة من القرآن الكريم وكتاب من أقوال القذافي.

وقالت احدى المشاركات لانسا "كان أبعد ما يكون عن حفل لعلية القوم كما توقعنا لم يقدموا لنا ولا حتى كوب ماء".

وقال السفير الليبي لانسا ان القذافي يخطط لامسيات مماثلة خلال زيارته التي تستغرق ثلاثة أيام لحضور القمة.

حصلت كل امرأة على نسخة من القرآن الكريم وكتاب للقذافي

So, when you see an ad in "Al-Waseet" that states "matloob fatayaat fawran" don't let your imagination take you far, it could be just Al Qathafi throwing a Da3wa Ela Al Islam party :)
These are the people that give Arabs and Muslims a bad name...
