Where Are You From?

Through this blog and blogging in general, I got to know people from completely different backgrounds. I have to say I never saw it coming when I first started and thought I'd only get Jordanian readers, if any, but it has been amazing so far and I'm quite sure it will only get better.

And since I'm always eager to learn about other cultures and other countries, I thought maybe you guys could help me with this little idea, and we could all have fun with it:

In the comments section, I want you guys to tell me a little bit about your culture, history, things you like in your country, things or places you find interesting there or anything you feel like sharing about where you're from. You can post a link to your blog, write a little piece of info or show us some images. Then tell other people so they can share theirs :)

This can be so much fun if everyone participates :) yalla.

a 49 year old German, grew up in Japan and Australia, lived in Germany, UK, Belgium and now, with my 2nd wife who is English - and we live in France. We have our own training company, based in the UK and my client base is in Germany, Belgium and Switzerland. My daughter (from my first marriage) is Irish and lives in the US.
Rest: www.biz-speak.biz
www.pickfranck.com
and my, slightly dormant blog http://thebusinesspick.blogspot.com/ because I am currently more off than online.
Any questions?

I am blessed to have the chance to interact with people from different cultures. It is always a pleasure to know how people, different from my own, think. The more you meet people the more you will love others and understand why they do what they do.
I am a Jordanian-Syrian born and grew up in Kuwait and now live temporarily in the United States. Irbid is my hometown where I feel a sense of belonging. Before coming to the US, I used to visit Syria every year because I can’t stay away from its Jasmine aroma. Here are my thoughts about Jordan:

I have been reading your blog posts for a few months now and I enjoy them tremendously. I didn't have a chance to introduce myself before but I guess now is as good a time as any. :)
I live and work in the US, the SF bay area in California more specifically.
Born in Doha and lived there for 9 years, then moved to Amman and experienced my Teen years there, then came to the US '93 for college and a career.
If this trend continues I should be headed westward in a few years! Hawaii or Japan here I come!
I consider myself American, Jordanian & Palestinian all at the same time. I don't have a preference or label myself in a particular manner. I feel at home in any country I live in. :)

Well I guess not many people wanted to play this game :(
It's so nice to meet you guys though, Frank you're so international :) this is cool :)

Jaraad, the jasmine aroma thing is just beautiful, I've never actually been to Syria as a tourist, I'm planning to go in the near future though :) w I'm from Irbed too ya garaba.

Thank you Ziad, you're international too, but Frank is ahead of you on that ;) nice to meet you.

Hi Rand, I have been reading your blog for a few months, I found you from a link in Kinzi's blog(the article on 'do you speak Arabish')
I am English but I lived in the middle East for 20 years because I married a Palestinian. I lived mainly in Jordan but also spent some time in Egypt, Iraq and Syria. The thing I miss the most in Jordan is the food, breakfast at the american bakehouse, mansaf at AlQuds in Downtown, my mother-in-laws vine leaves, fresh bread straight from the bakers oven, I could go on forever with this list.

okay, here i go again, i did answer this once, but probably did not type in that code word, or hit enter.

i was born and raised in pennsylvania. after university, i moved to california for new and exciting adventures. that is where i met my husband! we moved to jordan for a few years in the early nineties then back to california. now we are back in jordan, hopefully to stay! i could go on and on about all the wonderful things there are in America but that makes me sound bitter and unwilling to accept my choice of living here, so i tend to go on and on about what i love about here! I am happy to live in Jordan where I always have a friend and life is never dull. Especially while raising 4 kids!

i just came across your blog today.
I am Nahla,i am 26 years old and i was born and brougth up in dubai all my life.my father is palestinian but i hold a jordanian passport and havent been back to jordan in a long time.i come from a mixed parentage my mum being Mauritian. At present i live in Mauritius an island in the indian ocean filled with multicutural backgrounds.I consider myself a citizen of the world and feel i can settle anywhere and adapt to differnce cultures as i am a mixed spice.I travelled to many counteries.Rand we cant change what people ways of thinking but we only can adapt inorder to be sane.lol.Dubai is a country of expats ,even i not 100 % arab i dont think they ever accepted me,but i dont care becoz i am beautiful being and wouldnt waste time hurting for people who mean nothing to me.If ever i get a chance to come to jordan in feb ,knowing very well from dad explantions what mentality they have,i not there to get change people i there to have fun and soak into atmosphere .No where is perfect but with better understanding of people we can learn to love their differences by understanding them more, that what i came to terms with when i arrive to a new country and felt i was lost, but in truth people will be of all kinds bad or good but we learn and grow up to be better person.btw i love cooking arabic food even we have few arabs living here.if u wanna write to me i dont have a blog yet.its pier_angeli1984@yahoo.com.
